Writers Strike Interrupts Letterman Show

billscheft.jpgSo last night, on Letterman, Bill Scheft introduced himself as a Late Show writer following a lame joke riff containing a reference to the Vice President's hunting accident from years ago. After reminding viewers that there's a Writers Guild strike possible, Scheft (who is Dave's head monologue writer) said from his office desk, "I'm sure you don't want any interruption in the supply of fresh cutting edge jokes about Dick Cheney shooting people. Tell the media companies to play fair with the writers." No word on whether Nick Counter will demand equal time to bitchslap Scheft, but the unfunny bit set back the writers' cause by at least 3 bargaining points.
