What a great read. I can't help but think that a writer like this would write with or without a union, with or without Internet residuals.

Mr. G, Mr G,

Are you single? We have a lot in common.
I turn the off as soon as my show ends to avoid seeing the promos for next week. I never visit a spoiler site. I don't even read TV Guide to see what's going to happen next week.

On November 7, I turned my TV off.And it's been off ever since. Oh how painful that was for one who *loves* my shows, cheers every great line a writer wrote, and pulls the cast close.

I missed the great November sweeps episodes of my favorites. I missed the excited anticipation of knowing at the end of my work day, I could come home and wait breathless for my show to start. I missed the "oh crap now I have to wait another week for it to come back!" at the end of the show. I missed the frezied blogs from other fans talking about last nite's show.

But man when you script writers push out your weekly show, people like me sit on the couch and laugh at the jokes you wrote, eyes well up when you write your moving words, jolt off the couch and cuss and throw things at the TV when your words compel us to, and wait for another damned week until we can go thru that all over again.

Your words, to this writer and TV show fan, are the pearl in the shiny oyster. And that is why I so passionately support you.

That was wonderful. It reminds me of how I feel when I write something funny and people laugh, and makes me wish I will eventually develop the talent to make people laugh as well as he does.

This is the best thing I've read to come out of this strike. It illustrates that the beauty in the world, the things that make people laugh or cry, come from the minds of the daydreamers.

Thank you!

Lovely. Thanks, Greg.

Will these be archived somewhere, or shall I send people to DHD to read 'em?

"I hate writing..." - Now that's a real writer if ever I've heard of one. Amen. Couldn't agree more.

Very entertaining.

And although I'm not a writer, I like the applicability of the message that work can be simulataneously hard but satisfying.
