Who Knew? Eddie's 'Norbit' $25 Mil Debut

norbit12.jpgForget whether Eddie Murphy is going to win Best Supporting Actor. (I think not...) The real question is how's he going to do this weekend? I figured America would have had its fill of Big Momma-type movies brought to the big screen starring Martin Lawrence or Tyler Perry. But noooooooooo. Tracking shows that Eddie's multicharacter latest, Norbit, featuring a Big Fiancée, is looking at a bigger-than-expected $25 mil-$30 mil opening this weekend. Who knew? That big sigh of relief is coming from the Dreamworks camp... Meanwhile, some (including me) think those excruciating Norbit ads are hurting Eddie's Oscar chances. And, someday soon, let's discuss how this movie genre is hurting the image of African-American women...
