Howie was never Hollywood - never in it to eat off the fruit tray. He was just a Lou Grant-guy with a lifelong love of the news business, 'newspapers' news-gathering - and the entertainment/sports biz. These are the kinds of people who SHOULD - der - be putting out the news, whether trade or consumer, etc. WTF is WRONG with all these 'financial geniuses' who buy and sell and take over these media companies and then install at the helm people who know almost nothing about this business - or don't at least love it? The disintergration of this title, and the good names of many media outlets now on life support, speaks not only to gross mismanagement but also an appalling sense of hubris and entitlement.
