That said, lets not go nuts over the Silverman years. Bart did a lot of good early on in reenergizing the place. The TV staff of the 1990s was great. Two of them went on to The Wall Street Journal, another to the LA Times, another to TV Guide. Film coverage weas good too, Anita Busch, Beth Laski, etc. There was a time when Variety was Triple-A ball in journalism--and I mean that in a good way. Now, not so sure.
