SOURCE: No Golden Globes Newscast?

I'm trying to officially confirm... Just a rumor right now.

  1. Any exclusive broadcast triggers the $6 million rights payments for the Globes to the HFPA. So NBC has finally realized they can’t slide by the rules and it will cost them. The sponsors are gone so their hole is getting deeper for this one show. Now extrapolate that over all shows and the WGA tactics are working. It will take more time but they are working.

  2. Only Jeff Zucker, who is leeching the news out of NBC News, would have the golden globes to suggest that presenting entertainment awards constitutes live news. NBC hasn’t broadcast a Presidential news conference in 10 years. Now it’s the Golden Globes? Jeff needs his balls stuck up his ass. And somebody in the press needs to call him out for the hack he is, and the anti-journalist he has always been.

  4. Considering how hard the AP is reporting the People’s Choice Awards bombed (AP wire says half the audience of last year), I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. I mean, if it is, the embarrassment will be televised.

  5. NBC hasn’t broadcast a Presidential news conference in 10 years.

Um… Yeah they have. I’ve had to endure many of them while I was in Master Control at an NBC affiliate.

  8. This morning on Morning Joe on MesSNBC, Courtney Hazlett (sp?) was talking about how our DVRs have become a vast wasteland (or something) and we need to get the “two” (or “both” or whatever she said I can’t remember) sides talking again.

    WTF?

Ummm… So, one side storms out of the talks and refuses to talk, and so now it’s the “two” sides who won’t talk? Last I checked one side not talking was different than two sides not talking, or one side wanting to talk and the other refusing.

1 < 2 would be the scientific equation for all the math heads out there.

How surprising that the esteemed NBC News division would not get their facts straight on that one! Huh!

  9. As much as I feel horrible for the nominees — especially the first-time noms for the hugely talented MAD MEN — anything that sticks it the corrupt, unscrupulous, sham HFPA is good by me. I mean, how do they come up with seven nominees anyway?

For a really good laugh, check the website belonging to Yola Czaderska-Hayek, one of the only 85 or so active HFPA members:

  11. Mark S.,

So the Globes and Oscars are the only thing you look forward to on TV? Really? REALLY???

If that’s true, so sorry to ruin your year. Forgive us while we try to get a fair deal from the muli-billion dollar men who are holding our town hostage.

Maybe you should send an email to them letting them know how upset you are. They’re the ones who won’t negotiate. Go ahead, let the know how pissed off you are. http://WWW.AMPTP.org
