UPDATE: I also just heard that FBC gave a "cast contingent" pilot pickup to the Shaun Cassidy drama Inseparable (ABC TV Studios). A source just told me he thinks the pilot will be re-shot.
Despite all the buzz, and exec producer McG, and a "phenomenal cast", Spaced is a no-go, I'm told. FBC just turned thumbs down on the WBTV/Wonderland pilot, which was adapted from the successful British TV series.

This is great news for anyone who actually liked Spaced, including the original cast / writers who were completely locked out of this evil replicant of a production. Also hopefully this will prompt McG to get back to what the people actually want from him, that is to say, Fastlane, the Movie.
Shut up it was kickass.

Any news on Dollhouse?

This is the best news I’ve heard all week. Maybe FOX has got some intelligence, after all.
I look forward to Edgar’s next blog.

Incredible news about McSpaced. I’m so glad because now it saves me the time of having to school everyone who would have seen this abomination about the real show. I can also keep my DVD set to myself as I would have had lent it out numerous times in order to make my point. Good news indeed!

I’m quite excited that McSpaced is now a no-go. I hope it stays that way until the original cast and crew can be involved in the remake process (even though I would prefer Spaced to not be remade).

Dollhouse will be picked up for sure, just when we will see it is the issue, Fall or January 09?

I’m crying. I’m sure this was a fantastic show, full of boring heterosexual romance.
Like any other USA show, all about a man and a woman kissing and fighting and then kissing again.

Yay! Face it,it doesn’t matter how phenomenal the cast.
Edgar Wrights’ Spaced is the best..and anyway, would McG’s have been a success really? I’m mean just Look at the remade Absolutely Fabulous, darling..I rest my la croix case.
If Ed’s happy.So am I.
Peace

Great news!!! If we get a confirmation it will be the best news since the news of the release on DVD region 1 of the one and only one “Spaced”. This one and the Utah Jazz tied the series with Lakers are a good beginning of the week!!

Hurrah! For once, I would appreciate Hollyweird considering buying airing rights of phenomenal British series, and broadcasting the ORIGINALS on US tv, instead of trying to get away with horrible attempts at remakes. Would it destroy their little minds to do that?

I’m glad! Edgars version is well, un-remakeable!

Have a ? about Inseparable–if the pilot must be re-shot, doesn’t that imply that they already shot a pilot with the original star, Toby Stephens? (His option evidently expired per other news reports.) Could you clarify this if possible? Thanks for the news!

I’m glad that they are not doing a U.S. version of Spaced, it wouldn’t have worked. Besides the original is the best why not show that instead of having to doing some awful remake?
Comment by jen — May 12, 2008 @ 1:16 pm
oh thank god for that… the last thing we needed was a butchered version of something so memorable.
why oh why oh why do they keep doing this??! Coupling, Red Dwarf… each gone on to nothing. Waste of time and money, when they could be shelling moolah into decent productions that get the can such as Jericho.
My 0.98p’s worth (based on current exchange rates)

who was in the cast??
Comment by Felicia — May 12, 2008 @ 4:00 pm
Thank god.
spaced was a show of its time, references to the matrix and the phantom menace and the like were part of its charm and a remake would have spoilt it.
granted the american remake of the office is quite good, albeit not as good as the original, but i like many brits remember the red dwarf remakes pilot…..
