Primetime Pilot Panic: CBS UPDATE... 'HIMYM' Officially Renewed

cbslogosmaller.JPG

UPDATE: CBS renews How I Met Your Mother for Monday at 8:30 PM. Given the Britney shtick, there was never any doubt. And Neil Patrick Harris needs to win an Emmy.

I'm told that "bubble shows" won't be notified by CBS until later today or early tomorrow. But in terms of renewals, a network source tells me that the producers of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother were "quietly given reassurance a couple weeks ago that their show would be back". But I just received an email from a show insider saying, "The creators have never been given any real reassurance. Everyone has been progressing as if it would happen, but CBS has never said anything REAL. Doesn't matter, just clarifying." Maybe the HIMYM guys didn't recognize the secret CBS handshake?

  1. Any new word on Moonlight? Any openings on the CW schedule if not CBS? Can you tell I’m a bit desperate? I have to stop crying at work…

  2. HIMYM is a great show - funny and creative without being crass and cheap like Two and a Half Men [awful.]

  3. Good news. But please, no more Britney and no more use of the word ‘bro.’ It doesn’t make Barney hilarious, it makes him a douche.

  4. Any word on Moonlight? Does this hesitation suggest there may be hope for it still?

  5. Any news about Moonlight? I have been so depressed since yesterday with all this negative stuff coming out of nowhere. Such a huge surprise after all the positive vibes we have been hearing lately. What is going on?

Um, that’s kind of the point.

  7. Nikki are the WB and CBS even talking at this point regarding Moonlight….any straws or rumors to grasp at..

All Moonlight fans are in a state of shock, denial. tears…

  8. I wouln’t trust CBS’ assurances. I worked on a CBS show and one day a CBS exec came to set, to assure the cast and crew that CBS loved the show and that we were all “going to grow old together on this show”.

Two weeks later we were cancelled…

CBS should keep HIMYM. It is much better than most tv; Plus Pam Fryman is really nice.

  12. Moonlight fans are the new Veronica Mars fans.

Take that any way you wish.

  13. We’re tv viewers, not industry people, and we really like Old Christine. The show has hit its stride and has become really funny - and, it’s waaay better than Big Bang or Rules of Engagement which are boring, dumb, and often tasteless (not to mention Rules has that unwatchable David Spade who makes our skin crawl.)

  14. “Comedy writer” 7:35 am:

    Stop using the word “douche”

It’s more obnoxious than the word “bro.”
