Pellicano Recorded Saying: "That Will Kill Stallone"; Feds Finish Their Prosecution

stallone.jpgToday's testimony focused on Sylvester Stallone's financial and legal problems, but the actor never testified himself. (Even though Sly told reporters before the trial he'd be more than happy to testify for the feds against Pellicano who allegedly tapped his phone. "Why not? I don't want to be left out.") The U.S. attorney's office completed presenting their case in the Pellicano wiretapping and conspiracy trial. Ex-Hollywood private eye Anthony Pellicano starts presenting his defense tomorrow but has only announced one witness. In the morning, U.S. District Judge Dale Fischer granted a prosecution request to dismiss 28 charges against Pellicano and a co-defendant because some of the alleged victims weren't available to testify and other counts were redundant. More than 35 charges remain against Pellicano and former LAPD Sgt. Mark Arneson. The dropped counts mostly involved Arneson allegedly searching law enforcement databases for Pellicano. MORE

  1. Just who are these “alleged victims” who weren’t available to testify? And, what other information is being swept under the rug?

  2. Criminal wiretapping in California is simply recording people without their consent and without a warrant. You don’t need to climb a telephone pole or be a phone or audio expert to be a wiretapping criminal sleazebag. Simply turning a tape recorder on in your purse and surreptitiously recording a conversation without a warrant is the exact same crime.
