New LA Times.com Beat: Celebrity Justice

melnick.JPGYou Hollywood types had better start keeping your noses clean. The Los Angeles Times is looking to imitate TMZ.com and fill an online reporter position to cover the "Celebrity Justice" beat. "This is part of a major initiative to build out a Crime & Justice space on latimes.com this year," according to a memo posted by LAT Innovation Editor Russ Stanton. "It involves writing breaking news off the entertainment beat, scouring court files to develop interesting and offbeat stories related to the entertainment industry and its denizens, and working with Metro in updating ongoing trials and following up on cases." Yeah, I bet you're all thrilled. (Thanks to Kevin Roderick at LAObserved.com for reporting this first.)
