TV fans are showing support for the striking writers of their favorite shows. There are all sorts of new websites by them, not to mention pizza deliveries to the picket lines. Now fans of CSI have arranged for a plane to fly over the picketing WGA members near Universal Studios with the message "CSI Fans Support WGA" tomorrow weather permitting. They emailed me:
"As fans, we wholeheartedly support the WGA and we were looking for a tangible way to show our support - to show that the fans are supporting the writers, regardless of what Variety or any other trade publication would like you to think. Hopefully it will serve as a morale boost for the writers and let them know that the fans are behind them. Fans from all over the world have contributed to this campaign. Fans understand that we are going to miss out on our favorite programs, whether it is CSI or ER or any other show. But we also understand that there is much more at stake than what happens with Sara and Grissom (I can't believe I just typed that). We understand that the writers are fighting for what is fair and owed to them. They are only fighting for what they rightfully deserve, and we get that."
Hey Nikki - I just wanted to update you on the fan flyover. Depending on the weather (wind is an issue today) it will happen around 1 pm today (Monday) or tomorrow, Tuesday. I will update you as we find out more. Thanks again, and we hope that the writers understand that we as fans are behind them and support them.

Great work by them. I am glad that the writers are being shown support by the fans and I hope that this brings the AMPTP back to the table. Usually you just see this kind of support when the show is in danger of cancellation. Which means this, if you are a fan of one of this season’s new shows, you better show about the same support your your show will likely not be back after the strike.

This fan of American TV in Holland put this video up on youtube to instruct people how to write to the studios, urging them to end the strike. I don’t know how effective something like this really is at the end of the day, but the bottom line is there’s support across the world for writers, and they’re trying to find a way to get active.

Oh, this is just retarded. I was a fan of CSI until the writers foisted the Grissom/Sara storyline upon us. I have zero sympathy for the writers. I pray the whole lot of them are replaced by non-union scribes.

Well…considering that the writers have been “forcing” the Grissom/Sara storyline on us poor viewers from Day 2 on Season 1, I’d have to say…yeah, screw them! Get me some really biased, prone-to-sell-their-own-soul writers. Right on man!

As someone who loves and tv and is studying to be in the industry, I completely stand by the WGA and their decision to strike. Although, I personally will miss my favourite shows, (CSI, The Office, etc), I wish the writers victory because without them, the story and shows would just be ideas.

It’s not just the CSI writers who are striking, Big Ole, so saying that the writers should be replaced because you don’t like a storyline shows just how shallow and small-minded some people can be.
This isn’t about one storyline - it’s about people getting the attention and pay that they deserve.
To try to turn it into some platform for saying you don’t like a certain storyline is really low, but honestly more than anything is just plain weird.
