Do you have any thoughts about why Jon Stewart and Conan aren’t picketing or speaking up in favor of the WGA?

Do you think that’s because of their contracts, pure political concerns, a desire to be peacemakers, some kind of disagreement with the WGA, or some other reason?

Okay. Now, quit bashing Jay. Jay has helped more people than you’ll ever know. Just because he didn’t publicly announce he’s paying his staff doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have. A couple of tacky, loser employees who panicked because NBC laid them off went to the press instead of finding out the truth. The bonus checks from Jay were extra - no one told the employees that’s all they were getting. One or two idiots just assumed this. And, hopefully, these idiots won’t be back to work when the strike is over. And just know that a lot of emails bad-mouthing Jay are from a writer who was fired a few years ago for very good reasons.

He truly is our generation’s late night guy. And he reflects how our generation is sick of corporate greed and looking to build a better community, entertainment and otherwise. I think in 20 years (or sooner) he’s going to be an icon. Bigger than Carson. Why? Because he is not only funnier, he’s got a bigger heart.

Good man Kimmel, you are a class act, even with all the ass jokes. Don’t listen to what the trolls say. You are doing a good thing, your Mom should be proud of ya. The writers and actors in this business worked their way up, they know what it’s like to be short rent and food money. Boy, do they know. Jimmy Kimmel is one of the funniest guys I have seen in awhile, along with Adam Carolla, used to listen to them on KROQ all the time.

Good intentions not tempered by wisdom is a dangerous thing. If he taps out his savings with this, kudos for meaning well, but it won’t amount to anything medium and long term expect a cleaned out bank account.

Rethink this, Jimmy. It’s not worth tapping out - most of the same people you are generously helping will show you no consideration in the future. Just the facts.
