Rumors were rampant today that comedy movie mogul Judd Apatow left UTA over the weekend. Well, the producer-director-writer just let me know: "I have not left UTA. I am in the middle of finishing a pass on a script and have chosen to deal with this issue when I am done in a month or two." (See my previous, UTA Defectors Took Key Clients With Them To Endeavor: Whither Apatow?)

Dear Nikki,
I have not left UTA. In fact, I’m still here . . . wearing a blindfold . . . my hands and feet tied. Judging by the sounds around me, I’m quite certain that I’m locked in a closet located somewhere in the UTA mailroom.
I will deal with all agenting matters when I’m less . . . tied up. Pardon the pun, but I’m busy with the script I just finished. Please don’t ask me to reveal my script-transcribing techniques; let’s just say it involves morse code, an extremely long piece of string dipped in THC, a water-skiing ramp, and Seth Rogan.
Yours,
Judd Apatow

You know all this agency hopping has reached the point of insanity when a filmmaker staying with his agent becomes news.
Someone stop the record on this mad game of musical chairs!

Apatow knows a thing or two about leverage, that’s for sure. Why show your cinch hand when you can build the pot.

It’s nice to see that someone can make their own independent decision and not jump ship when everyone else does.

this will be interesting. miller wont let stevens appear to have any sway with apatow, although some credit stevens with the key advice that made apatow the mogul that he is. kramer at uta is the new aloni, but both were under stevens and took his lead. caa, wants everything, and miller is always delivering to them so he can continue to grow his not so successful producing business, but apatow cant believe he really needs caa. does he need anyone? ari goldfinger might have a hard time with this one.
