Actually Ohnonotmore, you would completely hate the ending. In South Park, they sacrificed Britney by hunting her down with cameras just so they can have a good harvest. Guess who is next to be harvested, Myley Cyrus.

Like it or not, this a great opportunity for people who self-promote and can't afford publicists, to piggyback off celebrity news.

I've seen lots of authors and experts do this very successfully. Author and child safety expert Debra Holtzman, for example, writes and distributes press releases whenever a celeb is shown doing something wrong.

Example: Brad Pitt was spotted riding a bike with his kid in a backpack. Debra issued a press release commenting on how dumb that was. Britney is shown driving with one of her kids on her lap, and Debra springs into action.

She has gotten a glut of publicity from MSM not only for her expertise as a child safety expert but for her commentary on the celebs and their kids.

They're not just sucking cash from celebrities. They're specifically partly living off of the life force of one somewhat messed up former child star. We created her, we destroyed her, now we eat her.

There is nothing that Britney Spears could possibly have done to her children that is nearly as evil as what AP is doing to her.

Wow.

How sad is is that the "Perez Hilton" effect has actually had a major effect on what WAS the source for timely reporting.

They're hurting for money, saw how much Perez is making per month, and said "give us some of that".

This weeks South Park (Britney Watch!) said it all.

This country makes me sad, and I live here.

Hmmm, lets see. Americans living in shantytowns because of home foreclosures, check. Government in debt to hostile foreign nations, check. Elections manipulated, check. Cornerstone of Freedom, a Free Press spends all of its time covering celebrities, check. I think the fall of the US Empire is just about complete.

go piece and very accurate from what my friends at the old wire say.
also they add
you can not spell crAP without AP.
vin albasio the last photo director of the wire worked for national enquirer before AP.
they already have told two of my friends who are ' photographers ' for AP to do tabloid style paparazzi work. they are not happy. AP is trying to convert people who are wire people to pap work.
nuns to call girls.. very strange.
but the real question is not how low end will ap go.. but is there a market there for them?

<blockquote cite="not about gossip, unnamed sources and innuendo or about 'peephole' journalism with AP photographers becoming paparazzi.">

So in other words, nothing like their news division. Thanks for the news flash, AP.</blockquote>

The entertainment vertical? What in the hell does that mean?

"Photo and video products" - translation: paparazzi photo & video

Gimme a break. Thank you for exposing this, Nikki. It's a truly revolting development. The AP needs cash, so they'll suck some out of dumb people by exploiting celebrities who dare venture out into the public. Now THAT'S journalism.

This is belated. But thank you. I read you daily during the strike, and your continuing efforts to focus on the substance underneath the veneer of Hollywood keeps me coming back. I am an actor who is increasingly disenchanted with the coverage of our industry. Thanks for giving me a beacon in, what seems to be, a dark, strange time in our culture.

Best, Ty

90% of the new entertainment jobs at AP are covered by the union. The only ones not are management.
