I can confirm that 22-year veteran entertainment editor and writer, Los Angeles Times deputy business editor Jim Bates, is leaving the newspaper to go work for Sitrick & Company which keeps hiring and hiring and hiring journalists to do its crisis PR. He'll start in September. I always loved his curmudgeonly demeanor, and I hope he doesn't change it now that he'll have to start schmoozing the media for a living. You'll be missed.
