  2. Oh, Nikki, with the “Coming…”. That’s just cruel! Hope you’re feeling better. Though, if I may, I hope even more that it’s good news.

  4. “I’m coming! I’m coming!….” enough already. (Of course, most of us writers don’t hear that often enough!) But still…..

  6. Nikki, please get well. I read in Variety that about 250 WGA members are going to lose their benefits on March 1 or April 1 because they didn’t make the minimum WGA salary last year before going out on strike. They have to do COBRA and the WGA people say there’s nothing they can do. Can you find out if that’s true? if so that’s pretty wrong for people who have been out on picket lines to lose their insurance. I am not a shill, I just have been trying to read all the strike info on the different sites and saw that last week. Thank you.

  7. Wondering,

My understanding is that if the strike continues to the point of people losing their insurance, the WGA will pay for their COBRA. And when the strike ends, the amount of time you have to earn the minimum to qualify will be extended to make up the for time lost during the strike.

Sadly, this is what happens when half of the health (and pension) plan trustees are from the conglom’s side. Nick Counter is a “trustee” of the WGA’s pension plan!!!

Here’s a link to Variety’s story on the health plan situation:
